Most organizations want strong internal documentation — for onboarding, role expectations, hiring, coaching, engineering practice, and operational consistency. In practice they end up choosing between two bad options:

  • Generic internet templates — SEO-driven, mismatched terminology, references to tools and policies the organization doesn’t use.
  • Writing everything from scratch — slow, inconsistent across teams, expensive to maintain.

PlayBooker exists in the gap: a curated, modular library of high-quality documentation that organizations white-label, customize, and publish as their own. The output should read as though it was written by your own leadership.

Operating principles

  • White-label first. Delivered content reads as the customer’s. External branding is minimal; first-party brand insertion is built in from the start.
  • Customization is expected, not optional. Tool, terminology, and policy differences are the norm. The catalogue is designed to adapt.
  • Non-developer usability. The customization path is built for HR, operations, and engineering leaders — not just engineers. App-driven configuration is the default; a CLI may follow as a power-user path.
  • Modular composition. Documents are assembled from reusable blocks with stable identifiers, so upgrades are safe and customizations stick.
  • Evergreen and maintainable. Content is versioned. Updates ship with changelogs. Adopting a new version does not require rewriting your customizations.

Distribution

PlayBooker ships through PortalService: purchase, downloads, versioned releases, and per-organization entitlement. Outputs publish cleanly into Confluence, a Markdown-based wiki, or an internal portal.

Where this is going

Phase one is the Career Progression Framework plus a small set of broadly-useful foundational documents. Subsequent phases add the customization app, expanded catalogue coverage (hiring, onboarding, engineering practice, platform/architecture), and a safe upgrade workflow with diffs and reconciliation.

Status

PlayBooker is in build-up to launch. This site will expand as the catalogue and customization surface come online.
